It's probably the most common road traffic offence you see, nearly every day, on Britain's roads. Stand on any busy street corner, watch the drivers of vehicles coming passed and, within a few minutes, you'll see one being committed. Ironically, the single thing that irritates drivers most on UK roads is what so many of them actually do…. use a mobile phone illegally on the move! So says a new nationwide survey from breakdown service Autonational Rescue. In fact 64% of drivers asked agreed that other drivers using mobiles on the move was the bad habit that annoyed them most. Asked the simple question: “Which bad driving habits annoy you most in other motorists”, the answers (in descending order) were: • Drivers using mobile phones on the move (1) • Being overtaken in dangerous situations (2) • Being ‘carved up’ by another motorist (=3) • Other drivers not using their indicators (=3) • Speeding motorists who drive too fast for the road conditions (4) • Drivers wh ... Like it or loathe it, this is the age of the Sat Nav in modern motoring. At least that’s true if you are of a certain age. A new nationwide survey of Britain’s motorists reveals that the majority of young drivers - aged under 25 - are now relying entirely on Sat Nav to get them to journey’s end. But the older you are the less likely you’ll want to depend on anything more than a simple printed road map. The survey highlights the fact that a whole generation of young drivers are finding ordinary UK roadmaps of no use to them whatsoever….. and much prefer to rely on their Sat Navs instead! Car breakdown specialists Autonational Rescue commissioned the new survey around one key question: “When you set off on a long journey, for example from London to Leeds or Edinburgh to Cardiff, where do you get your directions?” Thirty one per cent of all motorists said they would check a road map first to double check location and route (but only 10% of under 25s ... A recent rash of accidents across the country brings a very tough question for families. When should a senior loved one, no longer drive? The decision is often prompted by health issues, and finding alternatives is not always easy. Just last week, an accident at a Denver Souper Salad restaurant was caused by an elderly driver who became confused. Even though she's still independent, health issues started Patricia Appelbaum's family worrying about her driving. "We got concerned that she wouldn't be able to get around adequately," said her son John Appelbaum, "And she might get lost so we decided she needed some assistance." Now, for about $20 an hour, Patricia has Lisa from Senior Helpers to get her to doctor's appointments, shopping and swim class. "We get along very well," said Patricia, "And she, and she uh, she gets to read while I swim." The level of assistance is based on a senior's individual need. "This gives her the opport ... Hard work has its rewards. It puts food on the table, beer in the fridge and gives you the ability to buy cool things you can store in that newly added third garage stall. Mountain bikes, campers, fishing boats and ATVs are just some of the toys you may own for recreating outdoors. The last thing you need to do on a Saturday is find more work to do. While we enjoy using 4x4 ATVs to plow snow and tackle mud bogs, we also love to let loose and just ride for fun. And there’s nothing like carving the dunes or dicing through the trees on a lighter weight sport quad or the freedom they provide. Here are four sport quads between 330 and 400cc that are capable of providing a great joyride or day escape. Each packs more punch than the small entry-level models and is less intimidating than the larger displacement speedsters and race-specific quads. Honda TRX400X This sport quad was the talk of the industry a decade ago, but that was a different time and 450cc spor ... Read more »

“In 1999, there were an estimated 6,279,000 police reported traffic crashes, in which 41,611 people were killed and 3,236,000 people were injured; 4,188,000 crashes involved property damage only.”
Usually, accidents are caused by the negligence of one or more drivers however, other factors such as poorly maintained roads and faulty traffic control signals can contribute to the accident. Maintenance, improper road design, construction, signage, lighting or other highway defect, as well as improper striping on the road’s passing lanes, or an obstruction or problem with the roadway which may affects the drivers’ vision are all identified as potential hazards. Fallen trees, road debris and utility poles can also cause serious accidents. In other cases, such as the Firestone tire recall litigation, vehicles and/or their component parts may be defectively designed or manufactured, causing serious injury or death.
